A man was detained for breaking into vehicles at the Tanger Outlets

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – A 41-year-old man is back behind bars after police say he was caught breaking into vehicles near the Tanger Outlets early Thursday morning.

How It Happened

According to the North Charleston Police Department, officers were called by a hotel night auditor on Fashion Avenue, who reported seeing a man breaking into multiple cars and transferring stolen items into his own vehicle.

When officers arrived, they learned the suspect had just driven away in a beige Ford Fusion. Police quickly located the car and conducted a traffic stop at a nearby Circle K.

Suspect Identified

The driver was identified as Antwan Bligen, 41. Police say Bligen was driving with a suspended license at the time of the stop. A witness later confirmed he was the same individual seen breaking into vehicles.

Charges and Criminal History

Bligen was arrested and charged with:

Two counts of breaking into and entering vehicles

Driving under suspension

He is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center, where records show he has been booked eight times since 2016.
