On Saturday afternoon, February 7, 2026, North Charleston Police arrested 38-year-old Rayshawn Demetrius Mitchell during a traffic stop at Constitution Avenue and Ranger Drive.

Traffic Stop Details

Officers stopped the vehicle for illegal window tint, measured too dark to see inside. They smelled marijuana, and Mitchell initially denied weapons or felon status before admitting he was a convicted felon, prompting a probable cause search.​

The search revealed a holster on Mitchell, large cash amount, a gun in the glove compartment, and an extended Glock-style magazine with matching ammunition under the rear seat armrest.

Charges Filed

Mitchell faces unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, felony possession by a convicted felon, and possession of Schedule II narcotics. He was booked into Al Cannon Detention Center.
