NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly robbing an 83-year-old man in a store parking lot back in June.
57-year-old Jimmie Pryor, Jr. was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a June 3 strong-armed robbery that took place outside the Lowe’s Home Improvement on Northwood Boulevard.
What Police Say Happened
According to the North Charleston Police Department, Pryor approached the elderly victim, who was sitting in his car, and asked for gas money. He then allegedly opened the car door and forcibly took a money clip that contained $200 in cash.
The money clip had the victim’s name engraved on it.
Suspect Arrested on Dunlap Street
Police later found Pryor on Dunlap Street and took him into custody. He has since been charged with strong-armed robbery under common law.
This incident highlights the importance of staying alert, especially for older adults who may be more vulnerable in public spaces. Thanks to the quick work of police, a suspect is now facing charges and the investigation is moving forward. Authorities have not said whether the stolen money or money clip has been recovered.
