Authorities arrested 24-year-old Quadarius Scott from Summerville in Charleston County, South Carolina, charging him with murder via fentanyl-induced homicide and fentanyl trafficking (second offense) following a fatal overdose investigation.
Incident Overview
On December 29, 2025, deputies responded to a possible overdose on the 1600 block of Patterson Avenue (also referred to as Patterson Drive) on James Island, where they found an unresponsive man who was not breathing and pronounced dead at the scene. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not publicly released the victim’s identity. A witness at the scene, also a chronic fentanyl user, reported a negative reaction from the same batch of drugs.
Investigation and Arrest
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Narcotics Unit conducted an undercover purchase from Scott, identified via text messages as the distributor of the implicated fentanyl batch. Detectives arrested him on January 5, 2026, seizing 7.8 grams of fentanyl, 10 grams of marijuana, a semi-automatic pistol, a vehicle, and about $41,000 in cash. Scott was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Charges and Context
This case marks an application of South Carolina’s fentanyl-induced homicide law, treating certain drug distributions resulting in death as murder. No updates on court dates, bond, or victim identity appear in available reports as of early January 2026.
