A Ladson man who was guilty of shooting his neighbor was sentenced

Yordani Sosa Miguez, 39, sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder and weapon possession in a Dorchester County, SC, neighbor shooting on July 27, 2025.

The Attack

Victim stood in his Flamingo Drive front yard when Miguez, from his doorway, fired unprovoked—two rifle rounds after ordering him to stay put. One hit the tibia, causing paralysis and multiple surgeries.

Sentencing

Miguez claimed he was “tired of people entering his yard,” denied threats from victim. Chief Deputy Solicitor Kelly LaPlante and Sr. Asst. Solicitor Greg Voigt called it reckless; judge agreed for community protection.

Another stark SC crime case in your feed—neighbor disputes turning deadly. Thoughts on the sentence?
