Charleston Police responded around 6:45 p.m. on December 10 to the scene near Race Street, where they found Garcia-Galvez, also 17, dead from a gunshot wound inside his vehicle. Detectives determined the victim had driven there to meet the suspect, who approached the car, attempted an armed robbery, and then shot him. The parties knew each other, ruling out a random act.
Arrest and Charges
