A juvenile was apprehended for attempted robbery on Dorchester Road

Police in North Charleston, South Carolina, have arrested a juvenile in connection with an attempted armed robbery that took place earlier this week.

What Happened on Dorchester Road

According to the North Charleston Police Department, the incident began on Tuesday, when a victim was approached outside a store on Dorchester Road. The suspect first asked for money. After the victim refused and went inside to use the ATM, the suspect approached again — this time revealing a handgun tucked into his waistband.

Fearing for his safety, the victim ran back inside the store and immediately called police.

How Police Caught the Suspect

Two days later, on Thursday night, an officer working an off-duty assignment spotted the juvenile suspect. Police say he matched the individual seen on security camera footage from another location.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and officers recovered a handgun during the arrest.

Charges Filed

The juvenile has been charged with attempted armed robbery and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. Because the suspect is a minor, police have not released their name.

This case highlights how quick police work and the use of surveillance footage can help track down suspects before further crimes occur. While no one was injured, the incident serves as a reminder of the risks posed by youth involvement in armed crimes — and the importance of prevention efforts in the community.
