Charleston, South Carolina — According to the American Red Cross, a family of five was relocated on Sunday night after their home was damaged by fire.
Disaster-trained volunteers are supporting a family whose home on Rosebush Lane in Charleston was damaged. The organization provides cash support for immediate necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter, as well as referrals to available resources.
In light of this occurrence, the Red Cross recommends that people check their smoke detectors on a regular basis to ensure that they are in good functioning order, and that they replace the batteries in those alarms as needed. Members of the family should also prepare an escape plan and a meeting spot outside the home in case a fire breaks out.
