North Charleston, South Carolina. According to the North Charleston Police Department, a convicted felon was arrested for gun possession early Tuesday morning after officers uncovered a handgun during a traffic check.
Armando Zamorano, 26, was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
According to the incident report, authorities conducted a traffic check on a vehicle near Dorchester Road and Apartment Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. after witnessing the driver do an unlawful U-turn.
During the stop, authorities said that they noticed a strong marijuana stench coming from within the vehicle, prompting a search of the vehicle and its passengers.
Four passengers were removed from the vehicle and searched, while Zamorano, a passenger, was questioned about the existence of firearms. According to reports, a revolver was discovered behind the driver’s side rear passenger seat, along with several stray rounds of ammo.
