A Charleston guy was apprehended following a vehicle chase and foot pursuit

North Charleston, South Carolina. According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, a guy was apprehended on Thursday after leading officers on a vehicle chase and fleeing on foot following a collision.

David Garner was charged with failure to stop for blue lights for the second time after his criminal record revealed a previous conviction for the same conduct.

According to the incident report, deputies were patrolling Ashley Phosphate Road when they noticed a gold GMC Yukon failing to stop at a red light as it turned from Northside Drive onto Ashley Phosphate Road. The GMC was spotted committing numerous other traffic violations while deputies chased it with lights and sirens activated, in what the report describes as a blatant attempt to dodge a traffic check.

According to the report, the GMC narrowly avoided hitting another car in a parking lot before colliding with a huge pole, causing the vehicle to come to a stop.

The driver reportedly fled the vehicle on foot and entered the North Charleston Lodge’s breezeway. At the moment, deputies reported hearing a single gunshot, which led everyone to scatter.

Surveillance footage obtained from the property manager allegedly showed the driver entering two separate rooms. When deputies approached the room, Garner emerged and was arrested.

Garner told police that the GMC driver was not him, and that his registered GMC was taken after he left his keys inside.
