Charleston, South Carolina – The 2025 South Carolina School Report Cards, released Monday by the Department of Education, show different performance throughout all districts in the state, including the tri-county area.
Each school district receives a report card based on a variety of data factors including academic achievement, graduation rate, and college and job preparedness.
According to the report, the Charleston County School District’s performance has steadily improved, with particularly strong gains among elementary-level kids. Sanders-Clyde Elementary School received a “Good” grade for the first time ever. All grades showed continued development.
More than 60% of district schools received “Good” or “Excellent” ratings this year, compared to the state average of 49%. The district leads the state in all categories including ‘Students in the graduation cohort who are college or career ready,’ with a ranking of 58.4%, a decrease from the previous year.
Dorchester School District Two was a frontrunner in the Lowcountry, with eight schools receiving good overall ratings. None of its schools were rated below average or unsatisfactory. This year’s graduation rate of 91.4% increased by two percentage points over the previous year. The district’s graduation percentage exceeded the state average of 86.7%.
Berkeley County’s graduation rate was comparable to the state’s, with 86.2% and 86.7%, respectively. The dropout rate has decreased from 2.5% last year. The district lags behind the state in terms of ‘Students in the graduation cohort who are college OR career ready.’ The district is around 10% lower than the state. This is based on multiple data factors, including ACT and AP course scores, as well as technical college credentials.
