A dramatic multi-agency chase across Berkeley County, South Carolina, ended Tuesday with the arrest of a North Carolina man wanted on multiple warrants, authorities confirmed.
How the Chase Started
According to the Goose Creek Police Department, the pursuit began when Flock license plate cameras detected a stolen vehicle out of Salisbury, NC moving through the area.
Goose Creek officers initiated the chase, but it ended at the city limits.
Berkeley County deputies picked up the pursuit when the suspect crossed into their jurisdiction.
Dangerous Pursuit Through Berkeley County
The suspect, identified as Brian Williams Gibson, led deputies on a chase from Commerce Creek Way in Moncks Corner to College Park Road and North Main Street in Summerville.
During the pursuit, deputies reported that Gibson:
Drove on the wrong side of the road
Attempted to evade arrest despite spike strips being deployed
Continued until his vehicle’s tires were deflated by the strips

Active warrants in North Carolina for stalking, harassing phone calls, and burglary

Hospital Visit and Custody
When apprehended, Gibson claimed to be suffering a heart attack and was transported to a hospital. Authorities later confirmed he was medically cleared and released.
He is now awaiting booking at the Berkeley County Detention Center.
