Charleston, South Carolina — The Charleston Police Department has charged three suspects in connection with a recent wave of automobile break-ins and thefts in West Ashley.

Caleb Thomas Reser, 20, Cherry Josephine Foy, 18, and an anonymous 17-year-old guy were detained after a weeks-long investigation that began in September.

Officers rushed to the Grand Oaks neighborhood overnight on September 11 after many callers reported a highly damaged vehicle driving through the neighborhood, according to police.

Authorities stated the Lincoln MKC, which had been reported stolen earlier that evening, was later discovered abandoned on Ashley Garden Boulevard. A stolen license plate from a vehicle on Hainesworth Drive was discovered inside.

“After abandoning the damaged Lincoln, the suspects remained in the Grand Oaks area, where they broke into another vehicle on Ashley Garden Boulevard before stealing a Ford F-250 from Cabrill Drive,” according to a statement. Both stolen cars were recovered.

The suspects face the following charges:

Reser faces two counts of grand larceny ($10,000 or more) and one count of breaking into a vehicle. He was detained on September 11 and is still incarcerated at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
A 17-year-old guy has been charged with two charges of grand larceny ($10,000 or more), breaking into a vehicle, and petit larceny. On October 2, he was placed in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Foy – grand larceny ($10,000 or more). She was detained on September 17th and has since been released from the Al Cannon Detention Center.
“The Charleston Police Department thanks the residents who provided video evidence and promptly reported suspicious activity, which played a key role in these arrests,” according to the announcement.

The police agency encourages individuals to lock their cars and not keep important stuff inside.
