BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead after a fatal auto versus pedestrian accident in Bonneau early Friday.
Details of the Incident
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said that around 2:18 a.m., a “totally unknown vehicle” fatally struck a pedestrian in the roadway on Highway 52 near Illion Lane. The vehicle left the scene, according to SCHP.
Identification of the Victim
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office identified 34-year-old Jeaniettra Avonne Jones as the victim in the collision. She was pronounced dead on the scene from the result of her injuries, according to the coroner.
Ongoing Investigation
The coroner’s office and SCHP are investigating the incident.
