Charleston, South Carolina – The Charleston Police Department issued an update on the last known location of a missing 19-year-old College of Charleston student on Tuesday, as investigators continued to search for him.
Authorities say Owen Tillman Kenney was last seen strolling alone on the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge pedestrian walkway soon after 3 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. His cellphone’s last known position was on the bridge about the same time.
Kenney was last seen wearing a Boston Celtics jersey, but new evidence confirms that he was wearing a black hooded jacket, light-colored pants, and black Nike sneakers with white soles when he was on the bridge’s pedestrian walkway, according to the Charleston Police Department.
Additional resources have been dispatched in the search for Kenney, including the Charleston Police Department’s Underwater Recovery Team, Harbor Patrol, K9 units, and CPD’s Unmanned Aerial System team.
The department stated that they maintain regular communication with Kenney’s parents.
“We would like to thank the countless people who have been looking for Owen and sharing his photos on social media,” the Charleston Police Department said in a release issued Tuesday afternoon. “While we acknowledge the enormous public attention and concern surrounding this case, it is critical to remember that at the center of this investigation is a family looking for a loved one. Misinformation and speculation spread online can stymie development by diverting attention and resources away from verifiable leads. We ask the public to rely on official law enforcement updates and to provide any credible information immediately to investigators.”
The Charleston Police Department is assisted with its search operations by the FBI, New Jersey State Police, Carolina K9 Search and Rescue of Anderson, SC, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit.
