Residents are shaken following rounds fired in the North Charleston neighborhood

North Charleston, South Carolina – The North Charleston Police Department responded over the weekend to reports of many bullets fired along Bordeaux Court, which damaged automobiles and shook the community.

Homeowners and neighbors on Bordeaux Court expressed concern after hearing many gunshots on Saturday. With three vehicles damaged, residents in the area are demanding answers and a safer community.

Home security film of residents shows scenes from the incident, and homeowner Dan Lindler says he is still upset about the event.

“My wife was scared to death, she was in the back part of the house when all of this happened,” Lindler told me.

Minutes before the incident, surveillance showed a gang of boys jumping a resident’s fence. Moments afterward, gunshots are heard. One resident speculated that some of the gunfire could have originated from a white vehicle speeding by.

“Everything that transpired here was aimed at nothing. The initial people had already gone and leaped back over the fence over there. So the car ended up causing all of the damage to my property,” explained Timothy Potter.

The aftermath: Potter’s two red trucks, each with many bullet wounds and a damaged window. Another resident’s white Tahoe had a bullet hole. The estimated damage amounted more than $12,000.

“I have two damaged autos. I have chips in my house’s brick. “I’ve got glass all over my driveway,” Potter explained.

Potter stated that this is not the first time anything like this has occurred on their cul-de-sac. When talking to his next-door neighbor, “he’s tried to get the people jumping over his fence, trespassing on his property multiple times, and the police department has yet to do anything about it” .

Other neighbors expressed frustration with the response time and investigation after contacting numerous levels of authorities.

“No one from the city has come to my house, other than the cops that showed up and picked up all the, you know, 19 shell casings that were in the street,” Potter recalled.

According to North Charleston Police, many shot casings were recovered from the location. As of Monday, no arrests had been made.

While they await answers, homeowners have expressed a need for more police presence and a sense of safety in their town.

“This was a good neighborhood, that’s why we moved here,” Potter recalled.

“Frustrated, angry, all of the above,” Linley said. “It’s just been going on for too long, and we just don’t feel like there is anything that’s being done about it” .
