Police claim that four people, including the ex-husband, are suspected of setting up covert cameras at the woman's house

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Four people are accused of setting up hidden cameras at a woman’s home.

Adam Midgett, 43; Ronna Midgett Matthews, 51; Bonnie Midgett, 74; and Rebekah Broome, 51, are each charged with voyeurism.

Adam Midgett is a security operations coordinator with the Charleston County School District. He is also an Edisto Beach patrol officer.

Edisto Beach Police Chief Daniel Seyle said Adam Midgett has been placed on administrative leave without pay.

Investigators said on Sept. 6, Adam Midgett’s wife discovered a black camera lying behind the couch in the living room, pointed toward the front door, that appeared to be recording people entering and exiting her home. She also noticed the air conditioning vent on the ceiling looked “slightly ajar” while she was lying in bed.

The next day, officers reported finding three additional cameras: one camera outside her house, a camera on the balcony pointed toward her bedroom and a camera attached to a pickup truck registered to Adam Midgett.

The woman said she purchased an SD card reader to confirm that she had been recorded both inside and outside her house.

Investigators said she identified four people shown in footage installing the cameras as her ex-husband, Adam Midgett; Ronna Midgett Matthews, Adam Midgett’s sister; Bonnie Midgett, Adam Midgett’s mother; and Rebekah Broome, a family friend.

The woman said Adam Midgett also added himself as an authorized user on her son’s cell phone plan, which granted him access to her call records. She said she had access to text messages that showed his involvement in installing the cameras.

All four suspects are being held at the Charleston County Jail.
