Owen Kenney, a missing South Carolina college student, died by suicide, police said

Tragic twist in the case of missing College of Charleston student Owen Kenney: cops say they have video of Owen committing suicide after stepping into a bridge.

Owen, a 19-year-old student, had been missing since the morning of Halloween, and there was a massive search effort in South Carolina to find him… but those efforts have now shifted to recovery operations.

Charleston Police say they found video proof of Owen coming onto the Ravenel Bridge pedestrian walkway at 3:49 a.m. on October 31 and committing suicide.

The bridge connects Charleston with Mount Pleasant by crossing the Cooper River.

Charleston Police Department says they are collaborating with many agencies to locate Owen’s body and provide closure to his family. An underwater recovery crew has been looking for his remains.

Owen was reported missing on November 1, and the last photo of him showed him wearing a black jacket, black helmet, light-colored pants, and Nike sneakers.

Police say they are still in frequent communication with Owen’s family, who are “living through unimaginable pain.”
