Charleston, South Carolina – The Charleston Police Department is investigating after a shooting that killed one man and injured another early Saturday morning.
Officers said the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. at the 930 NoMo apartment complex on Morrison Drive.
According to authorities, one man died in a corridor and another was shot in the leg on the property. The injured man was sent to a neighboring hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to police, an altercation broke out at a Halloween party. When the argument became heated, detectives believe many persons engaged exchanged shots.
According to Sgt. Chris Stinson, officers were simultaneously attending to a separate incident in the same apartment complex. He verified that police detained persons at both scenes, however it is unclear whether anyone was charged in the brawl. So far, there have been no arrests in connection with the incident.
The Charleston Police Department said it is aware that the complex contains several College of Charleston students and has communicated with the College of Charleston Public Safety. Officers confirmed that none of the individuals involved are enrolled at the institution.
Police are still investigating the incident, and no charges have been made as of Saturday morning. The identify of the deceased victim is unknown at this time.
