North Charleston, S.C. — A 33-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after he was found with fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm during a traffic stop near Park Circle. Varzje Luther Bullock, of North Charleston, now faces serious drug and weapon charges.

Details of the Traffic Stop

An officer with the North Charleston Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Park Circle area. During the stop, the driver, later identified as Bullock, informed the officer that he was carrying a gun.

While approaching the vehicle, the officer detected the odor of marijuana and observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the car. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a firearm located between the driver’s seat and the center console.

Fentanyl Discovery and Charges

Further investigation led to the discovery of approximately 8.08 grams of fentanyl hidden in the vehicle’s glove compartment. Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid, has been linked to a surge in overdose deaths across the country due to its high potency.

As a result of the findings, Varzje Luther Bullock was arrested and charged with:

Trafficking fentanyl

Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime

Bullock was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center where he is currently being held.

Ongoing Efforts to Combat Drug Crime

This arrest is part of continued efforts by local law enforcement to combat the illegal drug trade and gun violence in North Charleston. Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activity related to drugs or firearms in the area.
