Mount Pleasant police responded to an incident at Homewood Suites

Mount Pleasant, South Carolina – On Tuesday afternoon, law police responded to an incident at the Homewood Suites in Mount Pleasant.

At 1:05 p.m., a third party called Consolidated dispatch to report that a housekeeper was being held hostage by a male in one of the hotel’s rooms, according to a Mount Pleasant Police Department spokesperson.

The caller reportedly informed officials that the man might have a gun. Officers visited the motel on Riviera Drive and spoke with the complaint.

The complainant informed authorities that the man no longer held the housekeeper hostage and that all other staff members were safe.

Law enforcement officers searched and cleared the room where the housekeeper was allegedly located, as well as the surrounding area. Detectives are on the scene doing an initial investigation, and other responding cops have left.

According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, no injuries were reported from the event, and the community is not in danger.

The agency is not looking for a suspect in connection with this case.
