North Charleston, South Carolina — An unidentified individual attempted to take nearly $2,000 in meat from Restaurant Depot in North Charleston, according to a news release from local authorities.
On Tuesday, at 4:52 p.m., North Charleston cops were dispatched to 3600 Meeting St. in response to a “panic alarm.” When law enforcement arrived on the scene, they spoke with two witnesses who were regional and corporate managers at the store and concluded that a man loaded his cart with $2,026.17 in meat before exiting the store, according to the police narrative.
When questioned, one of the managers recovered $1,386.02 in meat, while the suspect ran with $640 in items, according to the North Charleston Police Department.
According to local authorities, before being confronted, the suspect attempted to load the meat into a black Toyota Rav 4.
According to authorities, the same witnesses reported a similar incident about a week before to Tuesday. It included the same suspect and car, and the man allegedly stole almost $6,000 in meat.
Police say no arrests have been made in the case.
