Mount Pleasant, South Carolina – The groundbreaking for a new free-standing emergency room in Mount Pleasant will take place on Friday afternoon.
According to officials, the new HCA Healthcare Long Point ER will provide East Cooper residents with better access to high-quality emergency treatment.
The new facility, which is set to open in the fall of next year, represents a $11 million investment in the region, supporting roughly 200 design and construction employment during the building phase.
“We are proud to break ground on a project that reflects our long-term commitment to serving the Lowcountry and supporting the health of every family who calls this area home,” said Jeff Wilson, CEO of HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital. “The new ER we’re developing in Mount Pleasant demonstrates our commitment to increasing access to care. To be effective, emergency treatment must be easily accessible from where people live and work.
When the facility opens, administrators say it will be staffed around the clock by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses who have received specialized training in emergency care.
Leaders further emphasize that the new facility would deliver hospital-level emergency care “closer to home” for families along the rapidly expanding Long Point Road corridor.
Friday’s groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled around noon. Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie is slated to attend the celebration, along with HCA Healthcare administrators.
