Deputy Terminated Following Mount Pleasant Investigation
A deputy with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Jeffrey Wilson, was fired last week after it was revealed that he was involved in an ongoing investigation by the Mount Pleasant Police Department related to an indecent exposure incident.
Discovery of Connection
Sheriff Duane Lewis explained that a photo of a man wanted by the Mount Pleasant PD was sent to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office. Upon review, officials identified Wilson as the individual in the photo. Sheriff Lewis then decided to terminate Wilson’s employment upon learning about the nature of the investigation.
Arrest and Charges
Wilson was arrested several days after his termination. According to jail records, he faces charges of indecent exposure and was arrested on August 28. He was later released on a $5,000 bond.
Investigation Ongoing
The specifics of the investigation have not been disclosed, and News 2 has requested an incident report from the Mount Pleasant Police Department, which is still pending.
Sheriff Lewis confirmed that Wilson had been with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office for several years, having served two separate stints with the department.
