Feds appeal for help identifying victims of Charleston judge

Charleston, South Carolina  – Federal authorities are looking for potential victims of a Charleston County magistrate who has been accused of child sexual exploitation.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina announced Monday that it was seeking public assistance in identifying any child victims of James Gosnell Jr., age 68.

“If your child, or a child you know, was ever alone with, or held by James Gosnell, please notify the Homeland Security Investigations’ tip line,” a government spokesperson stated. You can email the tipline at the following address:

According to the US Department of Justice, Gosnell Jr. was detained on the morning of September 16 after a Homeland Security investigation linked an account believed to be associated with Gosnell to a site in the United Kingdom that distributed child sexual abuse material.

He made his initial appearance in a federal courthouse on Broad Street the day after his arrest, but a judge ruled that Gosnell should remain in prison.
