Taking part in the Cooper River Bridge Run 2026? Whether it’s your first time or you’ve done it before, planning ahead will make your race day smooth and stress-free. From collecting your race kit to understanding transport options and race rules, this guide will help you enjoy the event without confusion.

Packet Pickup and Expo Details

Before race day, you must collect your race packet from the Charleston Area Convention Center. This packet includes your race bib, timing chip, official race T-shirt, and some sponsor goodies.

Here are the timings for pickup:

  • Thursday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Make sure you don’t miss this because packet pickup is not available on race day.

Weather on Race Day

The weather is expected to be a bit cool and windy. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s°F (around 14–15°C), with strong winds that may reach up to 30 mph.

It’s a good idea to:

  • Wear light layers
  • Carry a wind-resistant jacket
  • Check the weather forecast before leaving

Transportation and Shuttle Services

To make travel easy, shuttle buses will run between Charleston and Mount Pleasant.

To Reach the Start Line:

  • Time: 5:00 AM – 6:45 AM
  • Important: You must show your race bib to board the bus

Return Shuttle:

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Buses are marked based on parking areas

Note: Strollers are not allowed on shuttle buses.

Boat Shuttle Option

If you want a different experience, you can choose the boat shuttle.

Morning Departures:

  • Boarding starts: 5:45 AM
  • Boats leave at: 6:00 AM, 6:30 AM, 6:45 AM

After reaching Patriots Point, buses will take you to the starting area.

Return Boats:

  • Start from: 11:00 AM
  • Frequency: Every 30 minutes
  • Last boat: 12:30 PM

Sweat Shuttle for Your Belongings

If you don’t want to carry your bag while running, you can use the sweat shuttle service.

  • Drop-off location: Live Oak Drive & Coleman Boulevard
  • Last drop time: 7:40 AM
  • Pickup location: Finish area (John & Meeting Streets)
  • Pickup time: Until 12:00 PM

Unclaimed bags will be donated, so don’t forget to collect yours.

Sweeper Bus Information

A sweeper bus will start moving along the route at 10:30 AM. It will pick up runners who are unable to complete the race.

Parking and Ride Share Details

Mount Pleasant Drop-Off:

  • Harris Teeter (920 Houston Northcutt Blvd.)
  • Walk about 1 mile to the starting line

Downtown Charleston Pickup:

  • Gadsdenboro Street near Gadsdenboro Park
  • Follow walking directions to reach the pickup zone

Overnight Parking:

Available from Friday 5:00 PM to Saturday 2:00 PM for $10 at:

  • Visitor’s Center Garage
  • Aquarium Garage
  • 34 St. Philip Street

Only card payments are accepted.

Starting Line and Race Route

The race starts near Simmons Street, in front of Moultrie Middle School. Make sure you reach early and line up according to your pace group.

  • Walk / Walk-Run
  • Run (Over 60 minutes)
  • Run (50–60 minutes – verification needed)
  • Run (40–50 minutes – verification needed)

Facilities Along the Route:

  • Portable toilets

  • First aid support
  • Live music for motivation

The race ends at Marion Square, where you can enjoy food, entertainment, and shopping.
