A man was arrested following a high-speed chase and crash in Charleston County on Sunday night. Elijah Robinson, 23, faces charges after he led Isle of Palms Police on a pursuit, according to an incident report.
The Pursuit
Deputies reported that Robinson was driving recklessly at high speeds when he drove off the Isle of Palms Connector, evading a traffic stop attempted by Isle of Palms Police. Afterward, Robinson continued driving toward Charleston on US-17, making multiple turns onto different roads.
The Crash
The pursuit ended when Robinson’s vehicle collided with a raised median at Long Point Road and Whipple Road, causing the car to flip. Robinson and a female passenger managed to exit the vehicle through broken windows.
Arrest and Injuries
Robinson ran from the scene of the crash, but deputies pursued him on foot and were able to take him into custody. Both Robinson and his passenger were transported to the Medical University of South Carolina by EMS for minor injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol also responded to the scene to assist with the crash investigation.
