Daycare employee accused of molesting a baby at Christian preschool

A 75-year-old childcare provider was arrested for allegedly abusing a child throughout the summer at a Christian preschool. North Charleston resident Gladys Rampersant is accused of engaging in improper behavior toward a minor.

Her place of employment, Sweetgrass Christian Academy, which opened on July 26 of this year, has been permanently closed.

WCSC claims that Rampersant was interacting with a child younger than one year old when he pulled the infant by the arms, violently shaken the infant, and then “slammed” the youngster into a cot.

According to reports, Rampersant went back to the baby, pulled them out of a cot, and struck them over the head.

Rampersant was arrested for this “disturbing” act and taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center, according to the police.

She was arrested, posted a $15,000 bond, and was freed approximately five hours later, according to jail records.

According to the police, they are still looking into this matter.

This situation is similar to one that happened in Bainbridge, Georgia, where a daycare provider named Yvette Thurston, 54, was arrested for child abuse after a toddler in her care suffered severe injuries, such as a black eye and a swollen face.

According to WDRW, Thurston faces three charges of first-degree child abuse and one count of first-degree aggravated battery.

Following an allegation of suspected abuse at Little Blessings Child Care near the Florida border, Thurston was placed under arrest.
