Firefighters in Charleston responded to a residential fire early Wednesday morning at a downtown building. The fire, which broke out shortly after 4 a.m., prompted a swift response from the Charleston Fire Department.
Crews were able to contain the fire to an attic space above a one-story portion of the building, limiting damage to a single unit.
What Happened?
According to the Charleston Fire Department’s Facebook post, firefighters worked quickly to assess the situation and prevent the fire from spreading further. Smoke, fire, and water damage were confined to one unit, and damage to the building’s roof was captured in a drone footage still.
Fire investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire. As of now, no injuries have been reported, and the residents of the affected unit were displaced.
