Aubrey Zanders, 39, was fatally shot outside his home on the 1200 block of Ashley Hall Road in Charleston County, South Carolina, on December 27, 2018, around 1:10 a.m. while taking out the trash. Deputies believe he confronted individuals attempting to break into his storage area, leading to the shooting; he died at the hospital after describing one assailant as a Black male with dreadlocks.​
Case Status
No arrests have been made seven years later, and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office continues seeking public tips. Detectives urge anyone with information to contact Detective Barry Goldstein at 843-554-2241. The case remains unsolved as of late December 2025.
