A deputy with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has been fired and arrested after investigators linked him to an indecent exposure case in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Sheriff Duane Lewis confirmed that Jeffrey Wilson, a longtime deputy with the agency, was terminated last week after his department received a photo from the Mount Pleasant Police Department showing a man wanted in connection with an indecent exposure incident.
Deputies were able to identify the man in the photo as Wilson. Once Sheriff Lewis learned the nature of the investigation, Wilson was immediately fired from the sheriff’s office.
Arrest and Charges
Wilson was arrested on August 28, 2025, by Mount Pleasant police and charged with indecent exposure. He was later released on a $5,000 bond, according to jail records.

Sheriff’s Statement
Sheriff Lewis emphasized that his office acted swiftly once Wilson was identified:
“Once we learned about the investigation and the allegations, it was clear he could no longer serve as a deputy in this agency,” Lewis said.
