Police in North Charleston, South Carolina, are searching for two individuals who skipped out on paying a restaurant bill over the weekend. The man and woman reportedly dined at the Tasty Crab House, ate all the food they ordered, and then left without settling their $120 bill. Authorities are now looking for the suspects, who were caught on camera and fled the scene in a gray Volkswagen.
What Happened?
The incident occurred around 8:21 p.m. on Saturday, at the Tasty Crab House located on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.
According to the North Charleston Police Department, a man and a woman entered the restaurant, ordered food, and consumed the entire meal. The total bill came to $120. However, when it was time to pay, the pair left the restaurant without paying a single cent.
This type of crime is commonly known as a “dine and dash.”
How They Escaped
Restaurant staff reported that the two individuals left in a gray-colored Volkswagen Jetta. The car had a South Carolina license plate, but officials have not yet shared the full plate number or the identities of the suspects.
Investigation Underway
Police say the business has handed over surveillance footage showing the two individuals inside the restaurant. This footage could help in identifying the suspects. As of now, their names and faces have not been publicly released.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
What may seem like a minor crime can actually lead to serious legal trouble. Walking out of a restaurant without paying is considered theft, and those responsible can face criminal charges. As the North Charleston Police Department continues to investigate the case, local businesses are reminded to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior. Meanwhile, the two suspects remain at large—and justice is still waiting to be served.
