After barricading a North Charleston residence during an attempted burglary, two teenagers were taken into custody

Two teenagers, 19-year-old Ajavion Khalif White and 18-year-old Ke’Shawn Malik Dean, both from North Charleston, South Carolina, were arrested Sunday night around 10 p.m. for first-degree burglary after being caught inside a home on Waltham Drive.

North Charleston Police Department officers responded to a reported burglary in progress, spotting two masked individuals inside and confirming with absent homeowners that no one was authorized to be there. The suspects refused to exit despite commands, leading to assistance from a Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, which prompted their surrender without further incident.

Both were booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center facing first-degree burglary charges, highlighting swift police action aided by on-scene verification and K9 support in resolving the barricade peacefully.

This incident underscores ongoing burglary concerns in North Charleston residential areas and effective inter-agency cooperation for public safety.
