Charleston County, South Carolina – The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has accused a lady with filing a bogus insurance claim for her automobile.
Porscha McWhite, 37, has been charged with filing a false claim for an insurance payment worth $10,000 or more.
According to the affidavit, she reportedly made a fake claim for insurance payment to MGA Insurance Company, Inc. on December 21, 2023. She stated her vehicle was extensively damaged by water on December 19.
However, historical weather records show a heavy rain storm with floods in the area on December 17, not the day she claimed the vehicle was damaged. McWhite’s vehicle was submerged on December 17, according to video security footage from a nearby property, yet her insurance policy said that she added comprehensive coverage on December 19.
The addition of comprehensive insurance covered the flood-related damage to her vehicle. According to the affidavit, she attempted to acquire an advantage totaling $11,405.44.
McWhite was booked into the Charleston County Jail on Friday.
