A new book store has opened on Charleston's King Street

Charleston, South Carolina – There’s a new bookstore in town!
Lady Birds celebrated their debut on Thursday at 299 King Street in Charleston. The store is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The owners kept parts of the historic building, such as the quirky flooring that spills over onto the junction of King and Liberty Streets. A curved internal bench, attractive window art, and clean bookshelves with colorful bindings were all added to the room.

The store is intended to be a welcoming gathering place with natural tones for all book enthusiasts.

Books available to readers include nonfiction, fiction, cuisine, journals, periodicals, puzzles, and coloring books. There is also a separate music area containing albums and titles written by or about musicians.

“Ladybird is designed to be more than just a bookstore. I hope it creates an environment for connection, delight, and exploration. The goal from the start was to create a space that seems like an eclectic mirror of our community, where stories, ideas, and people intersect in unexpected ways,” said Founder Summer Anderson.
