A man is accused of having a.20% BAC at the time of the hit-and-run on Rivers Avenue that left two people injured.

Fabian Solis-Espinosa, a 22-year-old, faces serious felony charges stemming from a New Year’s Day hit-and-run crash in North Charleston, South Carolina, that severely injured two motorcyclists. This incident occurred around 6:48 p.m. on Rivers Avenue near Hawthorne Drive, where his vehicle struck the motorcycle before he fled, but police quickly located both the vehicle and suspect nearby. A separate fatal hit-and-run on the same road about an hour later killed a pedestrian, with no arrests reported as of the latest updates.

Incident Details

Solis-Espinosa registered a blood alcohol content of 0.20% on a breath test, far exceeding South Carolina’s legal limit of 0.08%, and additional tests were sent to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Police also found cocaine in his possession during the arrest. The two motorcycle riders suffered great bodily injuries requiring hospital treatment.

Charges and Penalties

He faces two counts each of DUI causing great bodily injury and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, plus possession of cocaine. In South Carolina, DUI with great bodily injury carries penalties of 30 days to 15 years in prison and fines up to $10,100. Leaving the scene with injury is a felony punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment.

Bond and Status

Jail records indicate a bond of $89,739, but an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold prevents release. No court date or resolution updates appear in recent reports.

About 7:49 p.m. the same evening, an unidentified vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian on Rivers Avenue near Hawthorne Drive; the victim’s identity awaits family notification. North Charleston Police Traffic Unit and the coroner’s office continue investigating, urging tips from the public.
