Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis has stated that additional arrests are expected.
Discovery of the Victims
The bodies of Grissom and McAbee were discovered on August 8 in a wooded area off Richbow Road, near Rembert, by a landowner. Authorities were called to the scene around 1:17 p.m. Investigators believe the women were left in the clearing after their deaths. The coroner estimated the women had been there for more than 24 hours by the time they were found.

Autopsy results revealed that Grissom did not suffer any physical trauma at the time of her death, while McAbee died from a gunshot wound. Both deaths are being investigated as homicides. Sheriff Dennis expressed gratitude for the teamwork involved in the case, stating that the combined efforts of various agencies have been crucial in working toward justice for the victims and their families.
