Bailey had visited the dealership earlier, claimed he needed the car for a trip to Cross, S.C., and drove off without permission before heading toward Ashley Phosphate Road.

Deputies spotted the vehicle at a red light around 1 p.m., attempted a stop, but Bailey fled at high speed until pulling into a Spinx gas station where more officers waited. A felony traffic stop led to his custody without injuries; the vehicle was recovered.
