Dorchester County sheriff’s deputies arrested 48-year-old North Charleston resident Anthony Bailey on Thursday, January 22, 2026, following a brief pursuit of a vehicle stolen from a Summerville dealership. Bailey had visited the dealership earlier, claimed he needed the car for a trip to Cross, S.C., and drove off without permission before heading toward Ashley Phosphate Road.
Pursuit Details
Deputies spotted the vehicle at a red light around 1 p.m., attempted a stop, but Bailey fled at high speed until pulling into a Spinx gas station where more officers waited. A felony traffic stop led to his custody without injuries; the vehicle was recovered.
Charges and Status
Bailey faces charges of grand larceny and failure to stop for blue lights. He remains held at L.C. Knight Detention Center, continuing a pattern of vehicle theft responses in the Charleston region.
