A group of people attacked a man during an armed robbery in North Charleston

North Charleston Police are investigating a violent armed robbery that left a 38-year-old man injured after he was allegedly attacked by up to six individuals early Tuesday morning.

The incident began around 1 a.m., when deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office found the bleeding victim near Northside Drive and North Forest Drive. They immediately called for North Charleston officers, who then took over the case.

Dispute Over Phone Turns Violent

According to the victim, the incident started a short time earlier at a 7-Eleven store near Ashley Phosphate and Stall Roads, where he had stopped to buy food. While checking out, he accidentally picked up someone else’s phone, but said he placed it back on the counter before leaving.

As he walked away from the store, an unknown man approached him, asking about the phone. The victim explained what happened, and the two parted ways.

Ambushed and Robbed on Ashley Phosphate Road

Later, while walking along the 2500 block of Ashley Phosphate Road, the victim encountered the same man again — this time under more threatening circumstances. The suspect pulled out a weapon, and a physical fight broke out.

During the scuffle, the victim says four to five more men joined in and began attacking him. The group reportedly beat and robbed the man, taking:

A bracelet

A chain

Cash

His cellphone

The victim suffered a cut on his lip and possibly a dislocated jaw during the assault.

No Arrests Yet; Investigation Ongoing

As of now, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made. North Charleston Police are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
