Jaimen Quavere Tisdale, 23, was convicted of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, three counts of attempted armed robbery, and two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child in connection with the July 13, 2023, killing of 25-year-old Miqueas Lopez in North Charleston, South Carolina.​
Incident Details
Tisdale and Mariah McAteer, 24, targeted Lopez and his three friends after observing them cash paychecks at a convenience store on Fuller Street near Piedmont Avenue, following them for over 10 minutes before attempting the robbery around 5:50 p.m. Video evidence showed Tisdale exiting the passenger side of their vehicle, pointing a gun at Lopez’s car, and shooting him at close range in the head as he tried to drive away; Lopez died at the scene, with Lopez’s brother and cousin as witnesses. Their two infant children were in the backseat during the crime.​
Sentences and Charges
Tisdale received 55 years in prison, while McAteer pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to murder, three counts of attempted armed robbery, and two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child, earning 15 years.
