A Charleston County teacher has been placed on leave after facing various allegations, the district confirmed.

Charleston County, South Carolina – The Charleston County School District has acknowledged that a high school teacher has been placed on leave following various charges.

According to the incident report, Sade Delesia Nacheyle Nelson faces charges of third-degree assault and battery, high-level domestic violence, unlawfully putting a kid in danger or causing harm, and knowingly leaving a child.

ummerville On October 18, police arrived to a Walmart after witnesses reported seeing a woman abuse a man in a car and attempting to hit him with it. Police suspect she struck her child’s father and his girlfriend during a custody exchange.

Surveillance video showed Nelson speeding up in the parking lot, forcing the man to move out of the way, but she claimed he attacked her.

She was a county teacher and the 2025 teacher of the year at St. John’s High School, according to the district’s website. She has now been placed on administrative leave.
