A 24-year-old man, Romelle Allen Mazyck, was arrested following a high-speed, multi-county police chase in a stolen red Jeep Compass in the Summerville area. The pursuit began late Thursday night, February 12, 2026, when Dorchester County deputies spotted the vehicle on Ashley Phosphate Road.
Chase Details
Deputies attempted a felony traffic stop around 10:38 p.m., but Mazyck fled, accelerating to about 110 mph through Charleston County and onto Interstate 26 westbound. He exited at Exit 199 toward Moncks Corner, weaving recklessly along North Main Street. Berkeley County deputies deployed stop sticks, deflating the driver’s side tires, yet he continued several miles before stopping near 2160 North Main St. at College Park Road.
Arrest and Charges
Mazyck complied with orders to exit during a felony stop with firearms drawn and was taken into custody without incident. He faces charges of failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of a stolen firearm.
