Alberto Turino Hernandez, 35, from Hialeah, Florida, faces serious charges after allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend with a baseball bat just two days after their breakup. The assault happened around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday on the 5100 block of West 12th Avenue, where he reportedly ambushed her near her apartment, yelling in Spanish, “You will not make fun of me,” and “You took everything from me.”
Attack Details
The couple had dated for six months, cohabiting briefly, but she ended it due to his aggressive, possessive behavior; he moved out Tuesday. Hernandez allegedly exited a vehicle with a black bat, struck her left leg, back, and right leg (causing a laceration), tried forcing her into the car, beat her again after she fell, stole her phone and purse to block 911 calls, then fled. Neighbors heard her screams for help as she fought back with her legs.
Arrest and Charges
Police arrived quickly, hospitalized her for treatment, and found Hernandez hours later hiding in a box truck near NW 87th Avenue and 72nd Street. During interrogation, he confessed to the strikes, attempted abduction, and theft. He’s held without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, attempted kidnapping, and tampering with a witness.
