You aren't dead yet?': Man strikes victim with hammer till it breaks, then hits him again 6 to 8 times with a fire extinguisher, police say

A Nebraska man has been arrested after allegedly beating another man outside a motel with a hammer and fire extinguisher, saying “you aren’t dead yet?” as he repeatedly hit the victim.

Roger Lee Abramson, 49, faces charges of second-degree assault, terroristic threats, and third-degree assault.

According to a probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, the York County Sheriff’s Office responded to an allegation of an assault at the Sun Motel in Henderson, some 60 miles west of Lincoln, around 11 p.m. on November 14. Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered that two males, aged 78 and 53, had been battered.

Cops first approached the older victim, who was bleeding from his arm and seated in his pickup truck.

The other victim suffered more serious injuries but remained conscious when police arrived. He informed deputies that Abramson struck him with a hammer outside his hotel room. Abramson allegedly struck the victim with the hammer 10 to 15 times on the head and left forearm. The defendant continued to attack the victim with the hammer until it broke, according to the affidavit. After it split in half, Abramson allegedly said, “You aren’t dead yet?” before getting a fire extinguisher and beating him six to eight more times.

Both victims were transported to the hospital. Police discovered a “large amount of blood” outside a motel room, as well as a shattered hammer. The fire extinguisher was found in the back of a pickup truck.

Deputies took Abramson into custody. The affidavit did not offer a motive for the attack.
