Years after being released, the woman who live-streamed the DUI car crash that killed her sister was shot and killed

Obdulia Sanchez, a 26-year-old Stockton, California resident, died from a drive-by shooting on December 2, 2025, in the 700 block of Gertrude Avenue. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded around 7 p.m., finding Sanchez and another victim with gunshot wounds; both were hospitalized, but Sanchez succumbed to her injuries while the second victim’s condition remains undisclosed. No arrests have been made, and investigators are seeking public tips.

Prior Criminal History

Sanchez previously served prison time for a 2017 DUI crash near Los Banos that killed her 14-year-old sister, Jacqueline. At age 18, she drove drunk with a blood alcohol level of 0.10, live-streamed the incident on Instagram, veered off the road, and overturned the vehicle, ejecting both sisters who were not wearing seatbelts. She was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and child endangerment, receiving a six-year sentence but paroled after about 26 months in 2019 before a re-arrest later that year following a high-speed chase.

Local Context

The shooting occurred amid rising violence in Stockton, just days after a separate mass shooting at a toddler’s birthday party that killed four people, including three children, and injured 13 others, though no connection has been established. Authorities continue investigating both incidents independently.
