Woman shot married pastor dead while shouting 'he crushed my heart' after he ended their affair and forced his wife to take her to the car.

Latoshia Daniels, 46, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the second-degree murder of 36-year-old Brodes Perry, a pastor, and nearly 12 months for injuring his wife in a violent incident that occurred in 2019. Daniels was convicted by a jury in November 2024, and her sentences are set to run concurrently. The case has shocked the community, with a tragic tale of infidelity, heartbreak, and violence.

The Affair and the Tragic Shooting

Daniels had a long-standing relationship with Brodes Perry, whom she met at Saint Mark’s Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Initially seeking counseling for her troubled marriage, Daniels became involved in an affair with Perry, which lasted for several months. The affair continued after Perry and his wife moved to Collierville, Tennessee, where he worked as a pastor at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church. In April 2019, after Perry ended the affair, Daniels became enraged. She purchased a gun and drove to the couple’s home.

The violent confrontation took place on April 4, 2019. Daniels, in a fit of emotional distress, shot Perry while screaming, “He broke my heart.” After Perry’s death, Daniels also shot his wife in the shoulder as she tried to seek help from a neighbor. The wife survived the attack, but Perry was tragically killed.

Daniels’ Apology and Sentencing

During her sentencing, Daniels expressed remorse, offering a heartfelt apology to the victim’s family. She acknowledged her actions, stating, “I know what I did. I wasn’t in the best health,” and added that she was experiencing significant mental health struggles at the time. Despite her apology, the judge, Jennifer Fitzgerald, stated that “heartbreak does not justify killing,” emphasizing that the crime was senseless.

Daniels’ defense attorney, Lauren Fuchs, indicated that they would file a motion for a new trial and seek an appeal. The case has brought attention to the tragic consequences of unresolved emotional distress and the devastating impact of actions driven by anger and heartbreak.
