Woman is in critical condition after being shot in the head in east Charlotte

Schaunteyah Stewart, 35, has been in the ER for the past four days. Her mother was stunned when she learned the news.

Tahesha Chambers, Stewart’s mother, said, “There is no way I can understand this.” “She does not get into trouble. What do you mean, she has been shot? “What do you mean?”

Police were dispatched to the 5600 block of Albemarle Road at 2 a.m. Tuesday for a double gunshot. Tavares Phifer died. Stewart was shot in the back of his head. She is currently fighting for her life in the hospital.

“I cannot tell you what the doctors say. “I can only tell you what my God says,” Chambers explained. “She’s moving and she’s functioning everyday just a little bit more.”

Police detained Francisco Lopez-Tadeo, 29, and accused him with first-degree murder and attempted murder. He is in jail on an immigration hold, but Chambers is concerned that he will be deported.

“I think he needs to stay right here and deal with this right here,” according to Chambers.

Stewart is a mother of two who works at a nursing home. Her family claimed she enjoys music. Her mother claimed she didn’t know the gunman, and the gunman didn’t know her.

“I’m not sure. I don’t know whether I’m angry, sad, or numb. “I’m numb because I can’t understand,” Chambers explained.

Chambers believes her daughter was shot solely because the suspect was looking for a buddy and ended up shooting her as well. She hopes he pays for his error.
