Singer d4vd is being investigated after the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas was discovered in his impounded automobile on September 8.
The artist, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, began as a YouTube creator before becoming famous as a singer. He rose to prominence after releasing the 2022 songs “Romantic Homicide” and “Here with Me,” both of which went viral on TikTok.
In April 2025, d4vd began traveling the world as part of the Withered World Tour, following the publication of his debut album, Withered.
However, d4vd made news in September when he was recognized as the owner of a seized Tesla in which human remains had been discovered. The body was later identified as Rivas, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner told PEOPLE. Her death date is reported as September 8, however her cause of death is “deferred.”
d4vd has yet to make a public statement on the incident, but his representative informed NBC Los Angeles that his client is “fully cooperating” with authorities. The Los Angeles Police Department informed PEOPLE on September 18 that they had executed a search warrant and that “several items of evidence were recovered and will be analyzed by detectives in the coming days.” dv4d was supposedly staying at the Hollywood Hills address, according to KABC-TV and the Los Angeles Times.
On November 19, a police source informed PEOPLE that d4vd had been identified as a suspect.

d4vd is a singer with viral songs on Tiktok.
Before focusing on music, d4vd worked as a video game content designer. In 2022, he released the songs “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” both of which became viral on TikTok. Over the next three years, he recorded two EPs, opened for SZA, and won two BMI Pop awards.
After releasing his debut album, Withered, in April 2025, he went on a worldwide tour. He appeared in various venues across the United States in August and September, and was set to tour Europe later this year, but those shows have been removed from venue websites.
