A 25‑year‑old Arkansas man, Tarvon Chalmers, is accused of threatening to shoot and beat a Jonesboro woman and her family after overstaying a temporary stay in her home.
How the situation started
- The woman met Chalmers on Facebook in July and considered him a friend; when he got into a dispute with his housemates in early April and had nowhere to stay, she let him sleep at her home “out of pity.”
- By the following Thursday, he had still not left, and when she told him to go, he became angry, demanding $100 from her or saying he would “start breaking her property” and that police would have to remove him while her belongings were destroyed.
The threats and arrest
- According to the affidavit, Chalmers escalated the confrontation by telling her he would “shoot her and her family, beat her a‑‑ and leave her bloody in front of the victim’s young child.” [web]
- The woman left to take her child to school, called police from work, then returned home; officers arrived to find Chalmers on the couch with a duffel bag by the door, and he shouted “I’M LEAVING” while grabbing it, only to be arrested moments later.
Charges and court status
- Chalmers was charged with felony first‑degree terroristic threatening, criminal trespassing, and marijuana possession; he was booked into the Craighead County Detention Center with bail set at $15,000 and a no‑contact order against the victim.
- He is scheduled to appear in court on May 18, and the case highlights how quickly a temporary, internet‑based “friendship” can turn into a dangerous situation involving threats and domestic‑style intimidation.
