A 39-year-old mother from Texas has been charged with felony injury to a child after allegedly slamming her young daughter’s head into a wall as punishment. The woman, Katherine Crosby, reportedly admitted to the abuse but then questioned if it was even illegal. She also allegedly tried to coach her children to lie to investigators about what happened.

Katherine Crosby was arrested earlier this month and is now facing serious charges related to child abuse. A Child Protective Services (CPS) investigator began looking into the case after observing signs of abuse on Crosby’s daughter. The child, who is under the age of 14, was found to have a swollen black eye on June 6.
According to the investigator’s report, the young girl shared that physical violence was common in their home when someone got angry. The child said that “when someone gets angry, they get punched, their nose gets broken, they get black eyes, or their head gets banged into the door.”
The child further told authorities, “My mom did this to me and it hurt really bad.” The victim explained that her mother, after putting her in the corner for misbehaving, grabbed her by the ponytail and slammed her head into the wall, resulting in the black eye. She also mentioned that her mother did not give her any medical attention or ice for the injury.
Alleged Confession and Further Investigation
In the following interviews with investigators, Crosby allegedly admitted to the abuse. The affidavit from the police states that Crosby confirmed she had slammed her daughter’s head into the wall. When asked about it, she allegedly replied, “Yes, I did it.” She also demonstrated how she did it, matching the child’s description. When confronted, Crosby questioned whether her actions were wrong, saying, “What? I cannot do that?”
Later, during interviews at a forensic interview center, Crosby’s daughter and her sisters claimed that Crosby had instructed them to lie. The children said they were told to blame the injury on a brick, claiming that the victim had fallen on it to explain the black eye.
The victim later admitted that she was told to say she tripped on a brick, revealing her mother’s manipulation to mislead investigators.
